The repeated gesture

Why does shipping an item take so long?

A piece of furniture bought at auction, a lamp found at a flea market, a box of archives: to get it delivered, you write to three carriers, send photos, give measurements you don’t have, then wait a week for vague quotes.

We lived that routine for eight years in fine art shipping. ship replaces it with a calculation: AI measures the item, the algorithm decides the parcel and the price, based on times actually clocked in the workshop.

Before / after

What does ship actually change?

Before

Getting a purchase delivered, before

  1. Three quote requests, photos and rough measurements.
  2. A week of waiting for prices that are hard to compare.
  3. Extras discovered on the day: stairs, packing, insurance.

After

With ship

  1. A link, a photo or an invoice is enough.
  2. A firm price in seconds, stairs and handling included.
  3. Pay right away; one reference follows the file until delivery.
How it works

How does ship work?

  1. Step 01

    Describe the item

Paste a listing or auction link, a photo, an invoice or a few words.

  2. Step 02

    AI measures

ship reads the whole document, estimates size and weight, and spots what needs special care.

  3. Step 03

    The algorithm decides

Packing, handling time and price are worked out by readable rules, not by the AI.

  4. Step 04

    Pay and track

Payment is taken at booking; one reference follows the quote, the order and the delivery.

The diagram

How does ship work out a firm price?

AI does one thing only: understand the item and infer its size. Everything else — the parcel, the packing time, the journey, the price — is calculated by a local algorithm, with additions and multiplications you can read back.

The times used come from workshop measurements, not market averages. For live auctions, see aubaine.

FAQ

ship FAQ

How much does it cost to move a piece of furniture in Paris?

It depends on its size, its packing and the journey. Paste a link, a photo or an invoice into ship: the firm price appears in seconds.

Can the price change on delivery day?

No. The price is firm: stairs and handling are included. When an item needs checking, the price is shown as a range and confirmed by the team before any payment.

Can I ship something I bought at auction?

Yes. That is where ship began: paste the lot’s link, ship reads the description and prepares the quote.

Is the item insured?

Yes, at its declared value.

Which area does ship cover?

The Paris region (Île-de-France), for delivery within 2 hours or on a date you choose.
